TICK TICK TICK AWAY

Are you familiar with the days where you just are too tired to get out of bed? That's been every day for me. I think I'm developing sleep apnea or something because I've woken up at 3am the past three days and just can't seem to get back to sleep after that. My mind just starts running and I can't stop it. With this, I've taken to wearing a lot of leggings and fashion sweatpants (that's never going to be a phrase I'm comfortable with). This is basically my go to "I'm really not actually ready for the world but I'm still going to try" look.

FRIENDS WILL BE FRIENDS

This weekend I was really ill and everything was sad and not fun. Saturday I was feeling a bit better and my friend Katelyn invited me to her house to have some fun adventures while her friend was in town. Let's just say, I am really glad to have some normal human beings in my life. I was not intending to do a blog post about the day but there are just so many fun pictures, it'd be a shame not to share them with the world.

Meet Katelyn and Sophia. They're some of the kindest human beings I know. Also they're such fun to be around. We really liked the gold side but our photographer friend, Rachel,  just wouldn't let us use it. I DON'T KNOW WHY. I mean we look normal....... Anyhow. Katelyn has a blog of her own where she shares little joys she finds in life. Look at it HERE. She is doing a beautiful series right now where she has guest bloggers write every day about what makes them feel alive. It has really been a joy to read every day. It has been a daily reminder that life is joyful, even if you can't see it at the moment (something I desperately needed to be reminded when I was whiney and sickly)! I wrote for the series Saturday which you can find HERE.

Sophia is an artist. A painter. She is so unique in her work and she so genuinely loves doing it, it makes me yearn for any sort of artistic ability. She is so comforted by painting and wow is she brilliant at it. Just wow. You can view her paintings HERE. She is a goober. We went to a concert together this year and it was honestly one of the most fantastic days of my life. I cried. We crowd surfed. I enjoyed. I wouldn't have the experience with anyone else.

Meet me! I'm a person. I do things on occasion!

PARKOUR.

PARKOUR

P.S. We're in a band. It's legitimate. Not a joke. Legitimate.

Who are these people and what are they doing? Seriously.

CAN'T HANDLE THE PAPARAZZI. GET OUTTA MY FACE. Ugh the life we live.

Meet Rachel Martin. She's a new friend but I think she's super rad. Also I am jealous of her life because she lives my ideal life. She worked for Anthropologie. And Urban Outfitters. She hosted an 80's radio show in college. These are the two trivial facts that make me wish I was her. She is a real time  photographer. She does everything, it seems, but her passion is fashion photography. She is going places in her life. She captures some beautiful moments. Find her work HERE. Use her. She's just great.

RUNNING ON THE FRINGE

I wore this outfit to a concert a few weeks ago and got crazy amounts of compliments on it. I have been a bit obsessed with fringe lately, but not just any fringe. VELVET FRINGE. I feel like I walked straight back to the 90s and stole all the fashion trends. Seriously, today I was watching Boy Meets World and this girl was wearing one of the most flawless, 90s-est outfits I've ever seen. I'm 100% sure I'm copying it tomorrow. I don't know what my life is. Anyhow, we all know leather have been sweeping the blogosphere, so I figured I'd put my own spin on it. Fun fact: everything in this outfit was under $30. At least it was when I purchased it.
Also, how do you guys feel about these glasses? They're just frames right now but I'm thinking I might like to make them real? OPINIONS PLEASE.

On a related topic, I'm a little too obsessed with bobby socks. Topshop has the best. I own three or four now and it's not enough. I also just found some sheer bobby socks at UrbanOg.com that I'm desperate to try. Anyone want to give me eight more pairs? Please and thanks.

CALL THE DOCTOR

After months and months of desiring Dr. Martens, followed by a few more months of saving my funds, I finally ordered my first pair! I cannot express how excited I was to finally receive them in the mail. But alas, what would my life be if things went smoothly all the time? Incorrect. Incorrect is what my life would be. I opened the box and realized they still had the security tag on them! This wouldn't be a huge deal for a normal human who lives in a real city, but the closest store for me was an hour away so now I had to wait until the weekend to fix my treasures! I don't know how I did it, honestly. I had reached that point where I just got frustrated every morning because I knew my Docs were the only shoe that should be worn with the outfit of the day. TALK ABOUT STRUGGLES. Anyhow, yesterday was the day I finally got the tag removed and I'm already so thrilled. Walking through the melting ice/snow is no longer terrifying because I believe my Docs can handle anything. Am I right?? My friend Kathleen and I have been talking about Dr. Martens all weekend and I figured I'd grab some pictures today since we were both rocking the crap out of them. Except she is more adorable. I need to get on her level, clearly. Anyhow, I am obsessed with them because they're so versatile. There is a Doc for any occasion, it seems. I'm seriously in love with her white ones (maybe they'll be my next pair). I love how rad they look with her velvet dress and denim jacket. So much grunge. So long story long, Dr. Martens are flawless and they make every outfit more perfect. Also comfort. I'd wear these over heels any day.

Save Me From the Rain

As of late, I've been enjoying doing weird print mixing. Over winter break I went in to Nordstrom Rack- its safe to say I did a fair amount of damage. I left with about three new shirts, a dress, shoes, and the cardigan featured in my last post. Plus some other odds and ends that seem to be escaping my mind at the moment. After all these items, I only wound up spending $150! If that's not a steal, I don't know what is. Every time I go into Nordstrom Rack I wind up leaving with far more than I came in. Its dangerous. Anyhow, the crop sweater and acid wash dress are probably my two biggest steals of all time. Both were under $10. I MEAN, WHAT A STEAL.

SUMMER IN THE WINTER

This outfit features my two favorite summer pieces: high-waisted shorts and my vintage cropped tee from a flea market in Brooklyn. I loved rocking them with my gladiator sandals and flower crowns when it was warm and breezy. However, in the cold winter months I've forgotten how much I've missed these staples in my wardrobe. As I was looking through my closet, I had a longing for to whip them out again and certainly wasn't going to wait another three months for another cool breeze. Then I had an epiphany. Winterize it. I threw some tights on with my Free People maxicardi and I was out the door! I think I quite like the way it turned out.

Back on the Horse

Hello again, friends! It has been a long time since my first post but I think I'm ready to get into the swing of things. This has been one of those really dumb weeks where it seems to have no ending point. I honestly can't even keep track of what day it is. This is what I wore to class on Thursday/to the coffee shop. I had a lovely date with my computer. We had a fantastic time together.
